taking a break from tour... an update from paris. quite an update. the demolition party......
SMASHING GOOD TIME: Party guests don't typically take sledgehammers to elevators, rip up carpets or throw roaring speed-boat engines into bath tubs and shove them through walls. But then most hosts don't choose demolition as their party theme. Scenes of anarchy greeted guests attending the pre-renovation bash at Paris's gargantuan Le Royal Monceau hotel last week. Twenty-five contemporary artists had artistically ruined rooms for the occasion, including China's Wang Du and France's Yoann Saura, who bagged an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in February on the strength of his installation: a toilet pierced with light sticks.
On the third floor, guests were invited to help tear down the hotel's dowdy decor. "I'm gonna smash everything," yelled Cory Kennedy, rushing into Andre and Olympia Scarry's all-black room, fitted out with battered couches and a giant disco ball. Kanye West, who roamed the corridors with a bemused-looking Yves Carcelle, said that trashing hotel rooms was old hat. "Yeah, you know, the usual throwing the telly out of the window type of thing," he said. Cécile Togni, meanwhile, part of Paris's Putafrange DJ act, disclosed that the trio have come up with a clothing line for the contemporary chain Maje, due to premiere in Colette in December. Philippe Starck, who'll be overseeing the complete redesign of the hotel, said he's had enough of fashion. "I'm focusing on democratic eco-friendly projects," he said, describing one mini Starck energy-generating windmill that will hit French supermarkets next year. "I'm also working on a green building in L.A. that I can't really talk about yet," he said. "But it's going to be big." -WWD
stayed at amour for the first few days...

so people were literally supposed to just destroy this beautiful hotel. anything they wanted to do they could. but it was great because in certain rooms bands were playing, and there were these crazy exhibits as well.
ARE weapons were planned to play...
getting up the gear....
and the band members.
while caroline and i were wandering down the smashed, ripped, painted, marked, barfed, bitten, basically anything you can imagine walls... we saw this guy just stop and spit blood onto the wall.
caroline and i got obsessed with this space helmet.... and this black sparkle baby... which was the reason of the best photo taken ever.
BEST.
we have joint custody.
sacha
just swingin on chandeliers
bad caroline!
i wasnt sure if he was hired to pole dance or just was.
so there was this one floor where you were only supposed to demolish things. you had to sign away for injuries, etc etc.... put on suits, boots, gloves, hardhats, goggles, and mouth masks.... on and were given a sledge hammer.
my friends and I did that when I lived up North, we were living in an old theater and the owner said we had to leave because it was being knocked down for the new supermarket....so we invited everyone over to smash it up on our last night there. fun. We didn't have a pole tho.
Ah that looks so delightfully intense. I love the picture with the chair in the center of the room and also the picture with the glass/mirror pieces on the floor.
